Week 1: Ulrike Gelbmann (University of Graz, AT)

We live in a world of rapid changes and of rapid advances. But, can our environment keep up? Climate change is not new and it goes hand in hand with a plethora of social issues either causing climate change or emerging subsequent to climate change. There are constant calls for action on the one hand, but on the other, there are countries and individuals who block progress and protection of our planet. This seminar will explore sustainability and climate change and call for action for the sake of future generations. Through critical discussions and group work on the basis of selected sustainability and climate change relevant topics, the seminar will examine the changes our world is facing, the changes we are facing and possibilities for action in regard to sustainable development.
